About the Dive Team

The Palisades Dive Team is a great way to learn to dive, improve your diving, or perfect what you already can do. Diving teaches kids body control, acrobatic skills, mental focus and competitiveness. It’s also a lot of fun!

Dive on In!

Whether your child has never jumped off a diving board or has past experience, the Palisades Dive Team will be a fun, social, and exciting activity for them to be involved in this summer. Children from 6 to 18 years old are welcome to develop this challenging and rewarding sport and be a part of a fun team.  Whatever your skill level, we can help you improve!

Who are the Coaches? Head coach: Emily Richmond, Asst. Coach: Olivia Grinker. (Click on the coaches names to send them an email)

When are Practices? Practices are Monday-Friday evenings, 5:30 pm – 7 pm, with practice sessions from 5:30-6:15pm (10 & under) and 6:00pm-7:00pm (11 & up). Once school is over, we will consider adding an additional practice from 4:45-5:30 based on demand. The first official practice will be Wednesday, June 2.  

Diving Clinic: Our first event is a clinic on Tuesday, June 1 for kids who have not participated on dive team before. Emily and Olivia will also do a demonstration of hurdles, jumps, and dives.  This clinic is great chance for those who are new to the sport to try out diving.  

Can my child participate on both swim and dive teams? Yes, practices times and diving meets are scheduled so that kids can participate in both activities without conflicts.  

When are the Meets? We have four dual meets, plus the Division IV championship and the All-Star meet for divers who qualify. Two of our dual meets are at home, and two are away.

      Meet #1: Country Glen at Palisades. Sunday, June 27th, 5:00 pm

      Meet #2: Palisades at Little Falls. Monday, July 5th, 5:00 pm

      Meet #3: Potomac at Palisades. Sunday, July 11th, 5:00 pm

      Meet #4: Palisades at Westleigh. Sunday, July 18th, 5:00 pm

      Divisionals: TBA. Sunday, July 25^th, 8:00 am

      All-Stars: location TBA. July 28-29, 3:00 pm 

How much does it cost? $100 per diver and $75 for additional family members 

Team suits: We use the same suits as the swim team, Belmont Plaid Green. Aardvark Swim will be at sign up day.  

Volunteers: The dive team depends on parent volunteers! All your effort will be appreciated to write ribbons, do table work, and judge.  

Clinics: MCDL runs clinics to help parents learn judging and table work skills. More information is available at the website of the Montgomery County Dive League.

First clinic: Sunday June 13 at 11AM (ASH)

Second clinic: Tuesday June 15 at 6PM (RC)

Third clinic: Saturday June 19 at 4PM (OG)

Forth clinic: Thursday June 26 at 6PM (GW)
